New Biography Dishes Out Secrets Of A Pre-Political Barack Obama

Pulitzer-prize winning biographer David Garrow has written an unauthorized biography of former President Barack Obama. He's filling in a lot of blanks that Obama left out of his first memoir, 'Dreams of My Father'. The 1,078-page tell-all reveals that the former president used cocaine recreationally, contemplated a homosexual relationship and that he cheated on Michelle while they were dating.

According to Garrows, Mr. Obama dated a number of white, affluent women during his college days, but he melded them into one woman for his book. Garrows dug into the former president's past to find the facts.

Genevieve Cook was one of the president's first girlfriends, and apparently, the two had a very steamy relationship. Cook revealed to Garrows that she slept with a young Barack Obama on their first date and that their relationship was very passionate.

"Sexually he really wasn't very imaginative but he was comfortable. He was no kind of shrinking "can't handle it. This is invasive" or "I'm timid" in any way; he was quite earthy," Cook wrote in a private memoir obtained by Garrow.

Cook reports that Obama used cocaine fairly regularly in college, though not nearly in as much quantity as many of his friends were using it. This is a revelation; Obama had revealed he used cocaine but said it was only as a teenager.

Obama later considered a relationship with an openly gay professor. He struck a friendship with assistant professor Lawrence Goldyn while attending Occidental College in Los Angeles. He later confided in a girlfriend that he decided against a relationship because he felt it would be 'less challenging and demanding' than a relationship with a woman.

Obama's big love before Michelle was Sheila Miyoshi Jager. She says she lived with Obama for about two years, and he proposed to her. Her family didn't approve of her getting married so young. Obama later reconsidered the relationship and decided it would be more politically advantageous to date a black woman.

When Obama began dating Michelle, his future wife, he continued to see Jager.

The book, "Rising Star: The Making of Barack Obama," is set to be released on May 9.
