Neighbors Are Outraged That Police Refuse To Do Something About His Sign

A Vermont man declared his property a 'Muslim-Free Zone'. His signs have gotten a huge backlash in the mostly Socialist Democrat town. Neighbors are insisting that the police do something about the man's 'racism', but police say the guy has a First Amendment right to put up messages on his own private property.

Troy Maxham, a U.S. Army veteran who fought for people's freedom, is now at risk of losing his own. His neighbors are enraged by signs he's posted on his property, declaring it a 'Muslim-Free Zone'.

Liberals in the small town of Roxbury are outraged by the signs and are worried that it's going to send the message that the town is intolerant. Maxham lives near the highway, and apparently, people driving by can see his sign. Locals are so keen on Muslims having a freedom that they're demanding police violate Maxham's freedom and force him to remove the signs.

Police have refused the requests and ignored complaints. The sign is on public property, so there's nothing the police can do. It's a matter of freedom of speech.

“While the sign is on private property, it is in public view, and its message is in direct conflict with the values we as Americans are supposed to hold dear," wrote Regina Logan to the editor of the Times Argus, a local paper.

The ironic letter talks about holding American values dear, while simultaneously stating that those values should be blown off when she doesn’t agree with how someone expresses them. Who is really being the intolerant one here?

Though the townsfolk are hopping mad, there is nothing they could do about it. I wonder how many of them went through as much trouble to thank Mr. Maxham for his service as they did to complain about him exercising his rights in a way they don't like.
