Mike Huckabee Defends Kim Davis and Christianity

On Friday, GOP presidential aspirant Mike Huckabee spoke out on the jailing of Kentucky clerk Kim Davis by saying "Kim Davis, because she followed her convictions, is put in jail and is not given bail. This is an unbelievable moment in American history. And I think it may wake people up because who is next? Are pastors next? Florists? Caterers? Who else goes to jail before this is over?"

Huckabee had planned to attend a rally in Kentucky at 3 p.m. in support of Davis, but she was ordered to be released around 2:30 p.m. In addition, Huckabee defended Davis' decision to block her deputy clerks from issuing same-sex licenses. He stated. "Interestingly the very form says male and female. So the form has not been changed. Here's something I think, I hear a lot of people say it is the law of the land. I would dispute that. If we go back to read what Jefferson said, if we read what Hamilton said, if we read what Lincoln said, throughout our history, it is very clear, the court is not law unto itself. It can review law.”
