Michael Moore Threatens Boycott Against NFL Over Kaepernick - Never Expected This Response

Colin Kaepernick stirred up a lot of controversy over the last couple of years when he got national attention for refusing to stand for the National Anthem. Kaepernick was noticed 'taking a knee', and the report spread like wildfire. In time, the NFL player found himself taking a knee on the cover of Time Magazine.

Things backfired on Kaepernick, who opted not to re-sign with the San Francisco 49ers. Since then, no other team has been willing to sign him. Now, liberal political pundit and filmmaker Michael Moore is calling for a boycott of the NFL.

Moore posted his intentions on Facebook on Thursday night in a post entitled, "I'm done."

“I’ve decided to boycott the NFL this year because 32 NFL teams have colluded to blacklist one player: Colin Kaepernick,” he said.

Back when Kaepernick was still playing, some conservatives called for boycotting the NFL for the opposite reason: they wanted Kaepernick to be punished or let go for refusing to stand for the Star-Spangled Banner. That call didn't go very far, however, with loyal football fans still filling the stadium seats.

Some say refusal to sign Kaepernick has been the way team managers and owners are attempting to appease Kaepernick's critics. But now, Moore could be bringing out a whole new set of critics from the other side.

“If not for that action, Colin Kaepernick would be on an NFL roster right now,” Moore wrote. “There are 32 NFL teams. Three quarterbacks per team. That’s 96 quarterbacks on NFL rosters. Kaepernick led his team to the Super Bowl in 2012-13. He threw for 300 yards and a touchdown. He ran for 62 yards and another touchdown. He’s 29 years old. He is in the prime of his career.”

Moore points out that teams in the NFL have been willing to take a gamble on completely new quarterbacks with no professional track record, and those with mediocre success, instead of a proven player like Kaepernick. Teams have also never caved in to pressure about signing on players who have been accused of rape or domestic violence in the past. But for someone who exercises his Constitutional rights and ticks a few people off, the NFL is crumbling like a stale cookie.

“But when a talented young quarterback, who’s been a model citizen and model teammate; who’s put up good numbers and who’s taken his team to the Super Bowl, decided to take a political stand in a quiet, dignified and nonviolent way – the NFL says NO!” Moore accused. “That’s too much trouble! We need to shut him down!”

Moore believes it's a racist issue. Some 70 percent of NFL players are black. “Obey us. Get in line. Don’t rock the boat. Keep bashing your heads in, collecting your paychecks and shutting your mouths. We run this league. We run this country,” Moore explained.

More concluded with the hashtag phrase #IstandWithKaep and is calling for more people to join him in boycotting this football season.
