McCain Blames Obama’s ‘Failed Policies’ For the Rise of ISIS

President Obama shares some of the responsibility for ISIS becoming an increasingly dangerous threat, Arizona Sen. John McCain alleged in a radio interview.

The Hill reported that the program, “The Cats Roundtable,” aired on Sunday but was recorded last week before the terrorist attacks in Paris that killed at least 129 people. “It’s because of the president of the United States’ failed policies, leading from behind, which has led to this chaos and renewed influence and growth of ISIS,” McCain said.

The senator warned that ISIS may exploit the refugee crisis to sneak terrorists into Europe and the United States. “I am sure that Baghdadi, the leader of ISIS, has already told some of these young men (to) go into the refugee flow and call us when you get to Berlin, New York, Paris, wherever it is,” he said.

The Hill noted that police found an immigrant passport on the body of one of the alleged assailants in Paris. The man traveled to France via Greece, according to The Associated Press. The attacks have sparked increased scrutiny of Obama’s proposal to allow 10,000 Syrian refugees to enter the United States. Many Republicans are calling on the administration to scrap the plan, due to concerns that terrorists could pretend to be among those fleeing the war-ravaged Middle East.

“Our hearts go out to (the refugees), but we can’t endanger the security of the United States of America,” McCain said.
