Man Makes A Video Of His Golf Game With President Donald Trump

One young golfer started off the New Year with a bang. He and his dad were invited to play a game of golf with President Donald Trump. Naturally, the guy made sure to document the afternoon, and he shared his thoughts about the experience.

It's not every day a citizen gets to play golf with the POTUS, but 22-year-old pro-golfer Taylor Funk and his dad, eight-time PGA Tour winner Fred Funk, got lucky in Florida on January 1. The 22-year-old and his father were invited to Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida for a game with the Commander-in-Chief.

Funk and his family seemed very excited and nervous about the invitation. 'Make America Great Again' the golfer said as they rode to the course.

Their first stop was Secret Service so they could get clearance. The government agents surrounded the party at all times.

“Secret Service was amazing, there's a ton of them out there. They're just a well-oiled machine; it's incredible. They're in trees, they're everywhere, and it was just an amazing day.”

The family then met the president and had lunch with him, though Trump told the young golfer that he wasn’t allowed to film the president inside. Funk quickly obeyed and turned the camera off the president, but later turned it onto his sister, who was along to watch the game.

Funk asked his sister what she thought of Trump, and she described the president as 'kind'. Funk joked that she appeared to be too nervous to talk.

On the golf course, Trump gave some advice to his guests about where to hit the ball. “To the right of the caddy — because there's water to the left; see the tree? Behind that is the water, and you'll reach that easily.”

After the game, Funk sat down and shared his thoughts about the experience for his vlog. He had nothing but praise for the POTUS.

“He's an amazing guy. Very engaging, very thoughtful. Asked a lot of questions, wanted to know how he could be a better golfer, better president."

"He gave us insights on business and life and the world. It was just an amazing time and an experience we'll never forget.”

Funk ended up being the big winner for the day, and not just the golf game. He says that the game was 'one of the biggest honors of my life'.

"Mr. President was so real, thoughtful, fun, engaging, and just an overall great guy! and a pretty good golfer! He shot 36 on the front 9!” he concluded.

He posted the video to YouTube that documented his experiences, but the video was removed. On Tuesday Morning, CNN interviewed Funk on the president, mainly on his game.

“He actually played well; I was very surprised,” Funk reiterated.

“He shot even par on the front and played decent on the back, too. He’s definitely a lot better than I thought he was going to be.”

“He’s a good player, he’s a lot of fun to play with. Just very engaging, and really, I don’t have a bad thing to say about our round. It was amazing," the golfer stated.

Trump has been slammed by his critics for playing golf all week when after Christmas he tweeted it was time to ‘get back to work’.
