Lawrence O'Donnell Of MSNBC Thinks Trump Is 'The Laziest, Most Ignorant President In History'

According to the New York Times, President Donald Trump is beginning to regret trying to push a new health care bill through. He wishes, say reports, that he pushed forward with a more GOP-friendly tax plan first. On Thursday night, unnamed sources allegedly told the Times that Trump says if the repeal and replace plan of Speaker of the House Paul Ryan didn't pass on Friday, that Trump was done negotiating and would leave the Affordable Care Act as it is.

On MSNBC show 'Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell,' the host held a conversation with Business Insider's Josh Barro and journalist Steve Brill, and the trio proceeded to blast President Trump. The three call back to when Trump was on the campaign trail promising to repeal and replace Obamacare on day one when he took office, thus underestimating the complexity of the bill.

On the eve of the vote in congress on Speaker of the House Paul Ryan's repeal and replace bill, the trio speculated about whether it would pass. On Friday, the health care bill did not pass.

“This is the laziest, most ignorant president in history,” said O’Donnell of the POTUS the night before the vote.” “President Obama never once said something like this in the crusade to get that thing passed because he knew how to stay with it and get it passed.”

"He's lazy and ignorant," agreed Barro, "But also he has a really good innate marketing sense. And he knows this is not what he really ran for president on... he understood that this is not something that Americans wanted, and I think it was against his better judgement to listen to Paul Ryan doing this first. He should have started with a tax cut."

Brill says the collapse of the health care agenda is actually good news for Trump, because for the time being it takes Russia off the front page.
