Lara Trump Lays The Smack Down On The Rock

President Donald Trump’s ascension to the Oval Office has shown us that all bets are off in terms of presidential politics. To have an outsider win the highest office in the land opens up the possibilities for what we may see in terms of candidates as we move forward, and a ton of famous names have been thrown around as possible future candidates. One of those names is Dwayne ‘The Rock' Johnson, who hasn’t shied away from such speculation. In fact, he’s encouraged it. One member of the Trump clan has stepped up to the plate to point out that it’s not as easy as it looks.

As the Independent Journal Review shares, the president’s daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, appeared on Fox Business Network for a chat with host Maria Bartiromo on Monday, and the topic of a potential Johnson candidacy came up.

"I will tell him it's not as easy as it looks. You know, there was definite speculation about many people getting into the race in 2020. We'd love to see who his opponent might be, my father-in-law's opponent,” she said. “I will tell The Rock get ready, strap on the big boy pants, because they're coming after you, they're coming after your family ... we all know that very well.”

So with all of the famous names that have been bandied about as potential presidential candidates, why is Johnson receiving so much attention? In a nutshell, he’s one of the few that openly welcomes the speculation about his presidential aspirations.

“I think the 'People's President' has a really nice ring to that. I'll just say that,” he said during an appearance on NBC’s ‘Saturday Night Live.’

“Cool piece on why I should run for President. Maybe one day. Surely the White House has a spot for my pickup truck,” read one of his posts on social media.

Lara didn’t throw too much shade on Johnson’s potential candidacy, but she did play along to offer up a message for him.

“But it's a lot of work. You know it's not a joke. This is serious business, and my father-in-law has taken it very seriously, running for the presidency, being the president,” she added. “It's a very big deal, so get ready!"

One of the points that gets overlooked as folks play ‘what if…’ in terms of future candidates is the overall fit for office. As Lara indicated, it’s serious business. While there’s plenty of folks that can throw shade in Trump’s direction, few can deny the work ethic and track record he brings to the table. He built a vast empire - granted, with a nice head start on things - and that doesn’t happen by accident. Those same skills translate well to other high-pressure roles.

Can the same be said for a Hollywood star? That’s not to throw shade on Johnson at all, but it does point out a natural concern. If he’s serious, then we’d love to hear what he has to say and how he would approach being the commander-in-chief. He’s a fantastic speaker that could quickly capture the imagination of the masses, but he has to show that there’s some real substance there.

Does he really want to go from his current lifestyle to being on call round the clock with the fate of the nation in his hands? That’s another big question that the man known as The Rock has to ponder over, as there’s no second takes once you win the job.
