Kusher Family Attempting To Win Over Neighbors, Secret Service With Baked Goods

Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump had a rocky start in their new home. Neighbors in the exclusive Kalorama neighborhood of Washington D.C. had nothing but complaints at first. Protesters pouring into the neighborhood to shout at the Kushner/Trump house didn't help. New reports say that Ivanka has sweetened the neighbors a bit toward the family by going old school. It's a throwback to the 1950's, but whatever works, works.

They say you can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar, so it's no surprise that the family started pulling out the sugar. Ivanka reportedly won her neighbors over by bringing some good, old-fashioned home-baked foods to them as a peace offering. And in order to seal the deal, she brought the kids to make the delivery.

The Financial Times reported on the peace offering, and how well it went over. "She knocked on each of her neighbors’ doors with stealth weapons in tow: her children and baked goods. The blatant PR offensive was highly effective. “Lovely, just lovely,” says Rhona Friedman, a lawyer and neighbor who had been wary. “People who know her say the same thing: that she’s very gracious,"' reads an article in the FT.

Talk about pulling out the ‘big guns’. Smiling tots carrying home-baked goods could be considered low, but all’s fair in love and war.

A photo is circulating showing Kushner and the couple's older children, five-year-old Arabella and three-year-old Joseph, bringing out some baked yummies to the Secret Service agents on duty outside the house. Joseph proudly grinned as he carried the tray over to the agents to offer them a treat.

Baking is apparently one of Ivanka's lesser known talents. Growing up with a billionaire dad, you might think that this mom got her meals from restaurants, room service, and private chefs. But Ivanka's social media posts show otherwise. One recent post shows Ivanka, Arabella, and Joseph getting ready to celebrate the Jewish holiday of Purim by baking traditional hamentashen cookies.
