Kaine Slams Trump For Praising His 'Personal Mount Rushmore' of Foreign Dictators

Donald Trump has a “personal Mount Rushmore” of dictators that he admires, Tim Kaine declared during the vice-presidential candidates’ debate Tuesday night.

The Democratic running mate listed some of the current and former foreign leaders for whom Trump has expressed admiration. They include Russian President Vladimir Putin, who the Republican presidential nominee called a stronger leader than President Obama. Trump also has had kind words for Moammar Ghadafi of Libya, Kim Jong Un of North Korea and Saddam Hussein of Iraq.

While Kaine listed the names, GOP vice-presidential hopeful Mike Pence shook his head and complained, “Come on!” The Hill noted that at another point in the debate, after Kaine gave a detailed answer to a question about national security, Pence asked: “Did you work on that one a long time? That one had a lot of creative lines in it.”

The Indiana governor ridiculed Kaine’s claim that the Obama administration has effectively dealt with the terrorism threat. Referring to Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, Pence said: “After traveling millions of miles as our secretary of state, after being the architect of this administration’s foreign policy, America is less safe than it was the day Barack Obama became president. It’s been a lack of leadership.”

Kaine ridiculed Trump for calling a former beauty pageant “Miss Piggy” and “Miss Housekeeping.” He said the real-estate tycoon “can’t start a Twitter war with Miss Universe without shooting himself in the foot.”
