Jewish Cemetery Vandalized - Pence Steps Up Big Time

He may be the Vice President, but Mike Pence isn't above getting his hands dirty for a good cause. The VP proved it quite a few times already even after only a month in office.

Mr. Pence showed up at a Jewish cemetery in Missouri, along with Governor Eric Greitens, to help clean up. Chesed Shel Emeth cemetery, one of the oldest Jewish cemeteries in the state, had been vandalized. More than 170 grave stones had been toppled over.

Photos of the VPOTUS and the governor were posted to Twitter by Austin Chambers, Gov. Greitens senior advisor. ".@VP & @EricGreitens helping clean up vandalized Jewish Cemetery in STL," he wrote in the tweet.

After cleaning up, Pence joined in a prayer circle with other volunteers. ".@VP and Gov. bow heads as rabbi offers prayer at desecrated Jewish cemetery in MO," tweeted CBS News White House correspondent Mark Knoller with a picture.

Pence also delivered an inspiring speech. "There is no place in America for hatred or acts of prejudice, or violence, or anti-Semitism. I must tell you the people of Missouri are inspiring the nation by your love and care for this place, the Jewish community in Missouri," he said. "And I want to thank you for that inspiration, and showing the world what America is really about."

Pence has been busy in the last couple of months making appearances. He showed up at the World War II Memorial on the anniversary of Pearl Harbor, even though his visit wasn't scheduled or announced. He said he didn't want to cause a 'distraction' from the veterans, or the cause of the gathering. He just wanted to sit in the audience, without recognition or credit, and pay respects.

He also stopped to visit the Dachau Concentration Camp on his trip to Germany. He spent Super Bowl Sunday with disabled veterans, treating them to the game.
