Jeb Bush Tells Crowd: ‘Donald Trump Is a Jerk’

The war of words between Republican presidential candidates Jeb Bush and Donald Trump continued over the weekend, Newsmax reported. The former Florida governor called his rival “a jerk,” prompting the real-estate developer to accuse Bush of being “dumb as a rock.”

During a campaign rally in New Hampshire, Bush seemed to depart from his prepared remarks to tell the audience: “I have to get something off my chest. Donald Trump is a jerk.” The crowd laughed and applauded the remark, encouraging Bush to continue: “You cannot insult your way to the presidency. You can’t disparage women, Hispanics, disabled people. Who is he kidding?"

The comments were in response to a question by a man suffering from Asperger’s Syndrome, who wanted to know how the candidate would help disabled people if he is elected. Bush described programs he enacted as Florida’s governor. Newsmax that Trump recently mocked a New York Times reporter’s disability, which affects the use of his arms. It was one of many incidents that Trump’s critics cite when they call him a “bigot.”

During his speech, Bush called it “deeply disturbing” that his opponent is “running for president and insulting people.” He urged voters to “reject that out of hand,” adding: “A guy like that should not be the front-running candidate of our great party. That is not how we win.”
