Jeb Bush Hurls Criticism at Donald Trump

The top two GOP presidential contenders are engaging in a tit for tat battle over who is the better candidate. Donald Trump is the most outspoken, but at a campaign stop on Tuesday in Iowa, Jeb Bush called the real estate mogul's rhetoric "divisive" and argued that Republicans won’t win elections by “striking fear in people’s hearts.”

He also said, “On our side there are people that prey on people’s fears and their angst as well. I don’t know about you, but I think it is wrong. I believe we need to unify our country. We need to stop tearing — separating ourselves by race and ethnicity and income. We need to focus on the things that tie us together, and whether it’s Donald Trump or Barack Obama, their rhetoric of divisiveness is wrong." Bush went on to say “A Republican will never win by striking fear in people’s hearts. A Republican can win, and will win, if we have an aspirational message that gives people hope that their lives will be better when we apply conservative principles the right way."

These are the harshest comments that Bush has made about Trump so far. Even “Morning Joe” host Joe Scarborough, has urged Bush to go after Trump. On the other hand, Bush has been at the receiving end of many of Trump's criticisms. Trump called Bush's stance on immigration reform "baby stuff." Last month, when Trump said some immigrants entering the U.S. illegally are criminals and rapists, Bush called those comments "extraordinarily ugly." As a result, Trump lost business partners such as Macy's, NBCUniversal and Univision.
