Ivanka Posts This Following Lady Gaga’s Super Bowl Performance

Lady Gaga lit up the stadium at the Super Bowl half time show on Sunday. The singer and performance artist donned a sequenced silver jump suit, took a leap off the top of the stadium and sang some of her greatest hits. It was a spectacular show. It didn't appear to be overtly political, but that depends on who you ask.

Ivanka Trump tweeted after the performance, "Incredible performance by @ladygaga #PepsiHalftime #SuperBowl." The First Daughter then proceeded to get slammed by a number of liberals who apparently felt the performance was nothing more than Gaga's dig at Republicans, particularly Ms. Trump's father, the POTUS.

Gaga's performance opened with her singing a medley of patriotic tunes, such as 'God Bless America' and 'This Land Is Your Land.' She then recited a line from the Pledge of Allegiance: "One nation, under God, with liberty and justice for all" before launching into her own music.

Some believe the addition of the patriotic verses to the opening of her performance was all about politics. They see it as a major jab at President Trump, who they perceive as anti-patriotic. Gaga, from their perspective, used the positive songs much like someone might pick up a peace stick and beat a person they disagree with.

Ivanka Trump didn't seem to see it that way, nor did a number of other people on social media. Hearing the patriotic medley was a breath of fresh air — a reminder of unity in a time for unrest. Someone who agrees with the sentiments of 'God Bless America', 'This Land is Your Land' and the 'Pledge of Allegiance' hardly takes the words as a jab.

After all, when it comes down to it, everyone on both sides caught up in the impassioned political fighting are doing it because they do love their country, and they do care about the people in it, or those who come to it. They all want to see the country prosper and thrive; they just have different ideas about the best solutions to the country's problems. Maybe, if instead of aiming digs at each other, people can come together and remember what unity and tolerance really means. It's about being able to respect and find some compromise with those with whom you might disagree.

Whether Gaga meant selective unity, or actual broad and total unity that spans party lines and allegiances, is unclear. People seemed to take it from their own perspectives, though.
