Iran Leader Vows To ‘Respond’ To Trump’s ‘Threats’

The religious leader of Iran, reacting to what he called “threats” by President Trump, warned this week to rally his nation’s people against the United States.

The Daily Mail noted that Trump recently demanded that the Middle Eastern nation abandon its nuclear missile-testing program. He tweeted on Friday: “Iran is playing with fire. They don't appreciate how kind President Obama was to them. Not me!” The president declared he was putting Iran “on notice” for its “destabilizing activity.”

Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei fired back on Twitter: “The new president of the United States says Iran should've appreciated Obama! How come? Appreciate him for Daesh (ISIS), war in Iraq and Syria or public support for 2009 unrest?”

Khamenei announced that anti-U.S. demonstrations will take place Feb. 10, the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic revolution. “We are thankful to Trump for making our life easy as he showed the real face of America,” the leader told his country’s military brass at a meeting in Tehran. He later mocked the U.S. president by tweeting: “Trump says be scared of me! No, Iranians will respond to such words with February 10 rallies and will show what is their position toward threats.”

Mojtaba Zonour, a former Khamenei adviser, reportedly said: “The U.S. Army’s fifth fleet has occupied a part of Bahrain, and the enemy's farthest military base is in the Indian Ocean, but these points are all within the range of Iran's missile systems and they will be razed to the ground if the enemy makes a mistake. And only seven minutes is needed for the Iranian missile to hit Tel Aviv.”

According to the Daily Mail, Iranian officials argue that their weapons tests do not violate international agreements, including the controversial 2015 deal that the United States helped negotiate. “Iran does not need permission from any country to defend itself,” said an Iranian official, who called Trump an “inexperienced person.” He added: “The American government will understand that threatening Iran is useless.”
