Impressive Grassroots Fundraising Fuels Ben Carson’s Campaign

“Here we come!” Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson declared this week.

Citing his significant grassroots fundraising efforts, the retired pediatric neurosurgeon told Breitbart News: “I am extremely gratified with the level of enthusiasm and support that our campaign has received, from all 50 states.”

He continued: “The response to our message, namely demanding a more responsive and accountable government, has been clear and unequivocal, as demonstrated in the number of people who have shown their financial support for our campaign (209,940 donations from 151,060 individual donors). The message to me and my campaign is keep working. The message to the Washington political class is, “Here we come!”

Since March 3, Carson has raised $10.5 million, according to campaign spokesman Doug Watts. About. $8.3 million of the total was received during the recently ended quarter of the year. The greatest amount of money is coming from supporters in California, Arizona, Texas and Florida. Watts said most people are making their donations online, though some have done so on the phone or by regular mail.

Breitbart pointed out that Carson won last weekend’s straw poll at the Western Conservative Summit in Denver, Colo. He continues to place near the top in national polls of likely GOP primary voters.
