Illegal Immigrant Deported 15 Times Nearly Kills Boy On His 16th Visit

One of the most divisive topics in contemporary America is the nation’s policies towards illegal immigrants and immigration in general. The controversial issue has had additional fuel thrown onto the fire after an illegal immigrant was blamed for accidentally injuring a young boy during a drunken hit-and-run car crash in San Ysidro, San Diego.

The 6-year-old boy, Lennox Lake, was traveling home with his family after spending the day at Disneyland when their vehicle suddenly collided with the culprit’s speeding car. The man driving the car was 38-year-old Constantino Banda-Acosta. An initial investigation has revealed that not only is Mr. Banda-Acosta an illegal immigrant, but he has also been deported 15 times over a 15-year period.

Authorities have indicated that Mr. Banda-Acosta was under the influence of alcohol and had failed to stop at a ‘Stop’ sign, crashing into the car carrying Lennox and his family. The high impact crash caused heavy damage to the family’s car and could have killed the young boy and his parents.

According to the Union-Tribune, Lennox was taken out of the wrecked car, bleeding, unconscious, and suffering from a wound to the head. In a story on FOX5, Lennox’s father, Ben Lake, described his son’s current condition, saying: “Right now he has a lot of swelling and can’t open either of his eyes so he’s scared about why he can’t see. I just really care about bringing him home and making sure he’s happy again.” The young boy has already had two major surgeries and appears to be quickly recovering.

Americans across the country are outraged by the actions of Mr. Banda-Acosta, who fled the scene of the accident, especially when considering his record of illegal actions. After receiving descriptions of the vehicle, police were able to track down and arrest the illegal immigrant, holding him on a $100,000 bond.

Federal officials have become involved in the case after Mr. Banda-Acosta’s status as an illegal immigrant was revealed. After an initial background check, police have also discovered that the man has an extensive criminal record, including a DUI charge, three license suspensions and allegations of domestic violence.
