Here's What Joe Biden Is Hoping To See Out Of President Trump

It’s no secret that President Donald Trump doesn’t have very many people pulling for him across the aisle. In fact, there are many members of the Democratic Party that are openly wishing for his outright failure. By extension, there’s also an incredibly negative narrative that has emerged from our left-leaning friends for anything that has to do with Trump. In essence, the narrative basically says that everything Trump does is either wrong or being done for nefarious reasons.

That’s not only wrong, but it’s downright impossible. A man does not rise to achieve the amount of success that Trump has achieved throughout the course of his life by making nothing but mistakes and awful decisions. That simply can’t happen, as those missteps and poor choices will eventually catch up to him. Nonetheless, if you take the narrative at face value, that’s the way it’s being presented.

Of course, there are some politicians out there that can see past the daily talking points to recognize what’s really important. In a nutshell, it’s really important that our nation collectively moves forward for the greater good of all of us. For that to happen, Trump is going to have to achieve some level of success. Basically, if Trump does well, then we all should theoretically do well as a result.

As the Huffington Post shares, the former vice president is one of the few that can see through the noise to see what’s important, and he pointed that out during a recent interview.

“I give you my word as a Biden: I’ve been rooting for his success,” he said.

That doesn’t mean he agrees with everything that Trump does. It’s quite the opposite, actually.

“If you’ve noticed, Barack and I have not gone after him personally. We’ve not gotten into that mosh pit. We have taken issue with him when we think he’s wrong, which is - to be very blunt about it - most of the time,” he continued. “But here’s the thing: He is not ideological in my view,’’ Biden said. “Barack and I talked about it, and the hope was that he would be able to find some common ground, he would reach out, but it seems as though his leadership style has gotten in the way of what, intellectually, I don’t think he has a problem with.”

There’s nothing terribly outlandish about what Biden has to say. In fact, it’s a perfectly appropriate assessment from someone that disagrees with Trump’s style or policies. However, those differences are not enough to cloud Biden’s overall judgement about what’s best for the country as a whole. Biden’s holding out hope that Trump will grow into the role, and perhaps pipe down on the rhetoric as that happens.

“I mean, here’s a man who said he was surprised, and I believe him - he was genuinely surprised that being president was as difficult as running a real estate empire,” Biden continued. “There’s a difference between using the modern media and the means of communication than there is being irresponsible or irrational in the way you do it and just venting. You know, words matter. Words matter. When presidents speak, the world listens.”
