Here's How Eric Trump Defends His Father Against Claims He's A Racist

Last week, the political conversation got flipped upside down again. Leaked comments from a private meeting in the Oval Office began making the rounds, and the end result was that President Donald Trump was once again being accused of being a racist.

According to the leak, Trump wondered aloud why we should let people from ‘s***hole’ countries into the United States. Sources claim that many in attendance were taken aback by the remarks, but there has been a ton of conflicting information making the rounds ever since.

Regardless, the discussion quickly metastasized into outright claims that Trump is racist. As with just about anything Trump-related, detractors quickly piled on while the president’s supporters played defense.

Many in the middle were thoroughly confused as to why so much time and energy was being devoted to something someone may or may not have said in a closed-door meeting.

As the Daily Caller shares, Eric Trump is among those that have leapt to the defense of his father. He initially brushed the talk of his father being a racist aside with a quip during an appearance on ‘Fox & Friends.’

“My father sees one color. Green,” Eric said.

He would quickly shift gears and launch into a more passionate defense of the commander-in-chief.

“That’s all he cares about, he cares about the economy. He does not see race, he is the least racist person I have ever met in my entire life, it’s total nonsense, and you know what, at the same time they’re saying that, they’ll never report that African-American unemployment is the lowest it has ever been, the lowest it’s ever been in this country,” he said.

The fact that his father isn’t getting enough credit in his eyes was a recurring theme for Eric, and he feels that the constant chatter about such things is just merely a part of Democrats' strategy against the president.

“They won’t give him any credit for that, and by the way he campaigned on that. But then, they’ll go out and call him racist,” he continued.

“It’s very sad, it’s a race to the bottom, they stoop very very low, and the reason they do this is they don’t have their own message. What is the message on the Democrat side right now?”

Eric continued to pound that point home, as he feels the lack of a coherent strategy from Democrats has led them to zero in on opposing his father as much as possible.

“Who are the front-runners, what do they stand for? They don’t stand for anything, they’re being obstructionists - they’ve wasted a tremendous amount of money,” Eric added.

“They come out no matter what he did, if he was to solve cancer tomorrow they would criticize him for it, I mean, it’s very very sad.”

While it’s obvious that Eric is not exactly an unbiased observer, he does raise some valid points. While all presidents are subjected to some opposition and criticism, it’s been amplified to an inordinate level as far as Trump is concerned.

The president is far from innocent when it comes to making the current environment contentious, but the fact that he’s subjected to such an endless amount of vitriol has to at least be factored into the equation.
