Harry Reid: Republicans Blocking President Obama's Supreme Court Justice Nominee Will Lose Senate Seats

In an interview with NBC's "Meet the Press" broadcast on Sunday, Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid said that Republicans will lose Senate seats if they plan to block President Obama's Supreme Court nominee, Merrick Garland.

Reid said, “They're going to wind up, as a result of this, losing Senate seats they shouldn't have lost. I'm kind of glad they're doing it, but it's so foolish."

Reid argued that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) is “leading his Senate over the cliff.” Reid went on to say, “And I am telling everybody that's watching this, the senators aren't going to allow that.”

Reid also stated that he doesn't think that Democrats in the future should do whatever it takes to prevent a Republican president from appointing a justice in the year before an election.

Reid explained, “Not only do I think they shouldn't do it, they wouldn't do it. Whoever is elected president is elected for four years."
