Kathy Griffin Breaks Silence - Says She Not Sorry About Trump Photo

Kathy Griffin, a comedian who made national headlines after tweeting a photo of herself holding the bloody, severed head of Donald Trump, has opened up about her notorious comedy skit. When Griffin uploaded the photo onto Twitter, alongside the caption: “there was blood coming out of his eyes, blood coming out of his…wherever,” she had no idea what she was getting herself into.

Almost immediately, Twitter users began criticizing the controversial photo and message it sent. Eventually, the backlash became so great that Griffin began losing work, money and friends.

As the criticism mounted, Griffin finally apologized for the violent, gory and insensitive photo, saying: “I sincerely apologize. I went way too far. The image is too disturbing. I understand how it offends people. It wasn’t funny. I get it. I made a mistake and I was wrong.”

Now, Griffin, who was a former anchor of CNN’s New Year’s Eve broadcast, has spoken out about the incident and its effect on her professional and personal life. Anderson Copper, Griffin’s co-anchor of CNN’s NYE broadcast, publicly slammed his former friend and colleague, tweeting: “For the record, I am appalled by the photo shoot Kathy Griffin took part in.

It is clearly disgusting and completely inappropriate.”

In an interview with ‘The Cut’, Griffin revealed how hurt she was by Anderson Cooper’s comments and emphasized that it was months before he reached out to see how she was doing. Despite being widely rebuked, Griffin’s crude stunt secured support from several high-profile celebrities, including Jim Carrey and Jamie Foxx.

In an appearance on Entertainment Tonight, Foxx clarified his position, saying: “Listen, as comedians, sometimes you do go beyond, past the line. I still love Kathy Griffin. She went past the line, she’ll pay for it in the way she pays for it, and we’ll go out and we’ll laugh with her again.”

Now, Griffin is trying to rebuild her damaged reputation, but her self-pitying attitude isn’t winning her any fans. “I am no longer sorry," she said during an interview with an Australian news network. "The whole outrage was B.S., the whole thing got so blown out of proportion and I lost everybody…I have been through the mill."

In her recent public appearances, Griffin completely abandoned her conciliatory attitude towards President Trump, saying: “Why are people still expecting me to apologize and grovel to a man that tweets like this? I’m a comedian; he’s our f*****g president.”

During an interview on ‘Watch What Happens Live,' Griffin lambasted the president for his recent decisions, telling the audience: “President Trump just pardoned Joe Arpaio, who was essentially running a concentration camp in the Arizona desert. He said there are some good Nazis, and he’s kicking out young adults who were brought here as kids by their parents, and I’m the one who has to continue to apologize?”

Griffin is gearing up to embark on her inappropriately titled ‘Laugh Your Head Off' world tour, which will see her performing in Europe, New Zealand and Australia. It remains unclear whether Griffin plans to use Trump jokes in her performance.
