Gov. Jay Inslee Warns There Are A Mere '59 Days' Left To Save Kids From Global Warming

If you run around telling everyone that’ll listen that the sky is going to fall any second, you shouldn’t be all that surprised when people don’t take you all that seriously as the sky remains perfectly in place. While hyperbolic statements in regards to contentious issues is not a new phenomenon by any means, the practice seems to be on the rise in the modern world.

Oftentimes, these statements make their way onto social media, as it takes a ton for something to stick out in the constant flow of information. We see this happen all the time when a major news story breaks.

Users flock to the various platforms to dish out their hot takes, and a race seems to break out amongst those that wish to have their opinions heard. Over the top and absurd opinions rule the day, and it becomes incredibly tough to sift through all of the noise and hype to get to the real heart of the matter.

The cycle repeats itself ad nauseam, and the majority of users know full well to take the things they see with a grain of salt the size of the state of Rhode Island.

Hyperbolic claims go hand in hand with certain issues. For example, there’s a strong contingent of folks that believe there really is something to global warming.

As a result, they spread the knowledge as much as they possibly can. While some rely on facts to get their points across, others take a different tactic entirely.

They do their darndest to scare the daylights out of people with doom and gloom predictions, but it doesn’t always work out that well for those that go down this path.

As the Daily Caller shares, we have another entry to add to that ever-growing list. This one comes from Gov. Jay Inslee (D-WA), who took to social media to inform his followers that there were just 59 days left to save children from the effects of global warming.

Yes, he really posted this.

“We have just 59 days to do our part to save our children from an endless cycle of crop-killing droughts one year, and rivers spilling their banks the next. To save salmon from dying in ever warming rivers, and our forests from being reduced to plumes of ash,” he wrote.

So how can Inslee possibly be so prescient that he can pinpoint the exact day that irreparable harm will come to all? That’s about as unclear as his post, but it has been pointed out that there are just 59 days left in the state’s legislature session.

Basically, Inslee wants the state’s lawmakers to pass a tax on carbon emissions that come from various power plants and industrial facilities.

Oh. So why couldn’t he just say that instead of using an incredibly off-putting prophecy to get his point across?

That’s also unclear. What is clear is that his post is hyperbolic, over the top, ridiculously dramatic, and also unnecessary.

An elected official really thinks it’s a good idea to post a tweet that’s reminiscent of an unhinged activist? Really?

It’s truly a sad state of affairs when folks can’t get their points across without obliterating the line between good judgement and bad choices. Perhaps Inslee can find something more productive to do with his time over the next 59 days as opposed to making himself look so foolish.
