GOP Senators Send Warning To Iran

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) led 46 GOP senators who co-signed a letter sent to Iranian leaders as a warning against any potential nuclear deals. The letter noted that future presidents and Congresses could and may overturn any negotiation that does not fully dismantle Iran's capability to build a nuclear weapon.

On MSNBC's "Morning Joe," Cotton responded to criticism by saying, “They've been killing Americans for 35 years, they’ve killed hundreds of troops in Iran, now they control five capitols in the Middle East. They are nothing but hard-liners in Iran and if they do all of those things without a nuclear weapon, imagine what they would do with one.” While America and its Western allies are working with Iran on a deal to decrease the country's potential to build nuclear weapons, Cotton believes the only solution is complete nuclear disarmament. These 46 GOP senators have been accused of trying to sandbag the negotiations. Yet Cotton said, “I talked with all Senate Republicans, we worked with many Senate Democrats, many senators didn’t sign for various reasons but many senators agree with my views even if they didn’t sign the letter. We have four potential candidates in the U.S. Senate on the letter. I welcome even Hillary Clinton to join us because I assume she might have reservations about this ill-fated nuclear deal as well."
