GOP Senators Call Out Trump For Controversial Tweets Attacking "Morning Joe" Hosts

President Donald Trump managed to flip the news cycle on its head this morning, and it was all due to his inability to control himself on social media. Despite some overwhelming evidence that he quickly changes the narrative whenever he tweets, he insists on doing just that. For today’s trick, he decided to use the powers of social media to take a shot at some cable news hosts that have an inclination to blast the commander-in-chief as much as possible.

As The Hill shares, Trump’s targets were the co-hosts of MSNBC’s ‘Morning Joe', Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski. At one time, the hosts were called out for having too cozy of a relationship with Trump. Fast forward to recent times, and there’s no such chatter. Scarborough and Brzezinski have made a sport out of attacking Trump, and the commander-in-chief finally felt the need to respond. He would do so in a way that was far from presidential by posting a pair of tweets.

“I heard poorly rated @Morning_Joe speaks badly of me (don't watch anymore). Then how come low I.Q. Crazy Mika, along with Psycho Joe, came..,” read the first tweet.

“...to Mar-a-Lago 3 nights in a row around New Year's Eve, and insisted on joining me. She was bleeding badly from a face-lift. I said no!” read the second.

While it’s impossible to know what Trump was thinking here, his vent session did not go over well at all. GOP Senators were quick on the trigger to respond.

“Mr. President, your tweet was beneath the office and represents what is wrong with American politics, not the greatness of America,” shared Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC).

“Please just stop. This isn't normal and it's beneath the dignity of your office,” posted Sen. Ben Sasse (R-NE).

As you can imagine, those were far from the only replies to Trump’s latest brain-dump.

“Never imagined a day when I would think to myself, "it is beneath my dignity to respond to the President of the United States,” shared NBC News spokesman Mark Kornblau.

We can safely assume that this ‘feud’ has been escalated to a new level, and that’s just downright sad. In fairness to Trump, Scarborough and Brzezinski have said more than their share of outrageous things about Trump. The show is basically a nonstop barrage of anti-Trump sentiments, and it’s pretty hard to fathom that anyone can start the day as angry as they do.

That being said, Trump needs to stay above the fray here. Fully functioning viewers and observers are able to quickly see past the ‘Morning Joe’ schtick, as there’s no possible way anyone can be as poor of a human being as the show’s co-hosts claim. They didn’t seem to be so repulsed when they felt that they had special access to the president, so we’ll view their ‘commentary’ as something on the opposite spectrum of unbiased.

Nonetheless, it’s simply not presidential for Trump to be reducing himself to insulting a pair of talking heads. There were plenty of positive things that Trump could’ve touted instead, but he has changed the narrative - once again - thanks to his desire to post and share.
