GOP Official Calls White House Press Secretary A 'Serial Liar'

President Trump’s spokeswoman keeps telling lies because she does not want to lose her job, according to Republican strategist Rick Wilson.

The political operative was referring to White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders when he told CNN: “Her job is contingent upon her being a serial congenital liar in defense of Donald Trump’s latest outrages. I mean, she probably has some like tiny, shriveled husk left in her soul where she realizes this is the wrong thing to do. But she does it anyway because otherwise they’ll replace her.”

The Hill reported that Wilson criticized comments Sanders made during a recent press conference. The spokeswoman denied that the president’s frequent use of the name “Pocahontas” to describe Sen. Elizabeth Warren is a “racial slur.” Since last year’s campaign, Trump has often ridiculed the Massachusetts Democrat for claiming to have Cherokee ancestry. He repeated the term earlier this week at a White House ceremony honoring Navajo code talkers who served in the U.S. military in World War II.

Sanders accused Warren, whom many political pundits consider a front-runner for her party’s presidential nomination in 2020, of “lying about her heritage to advance her career.” Wilson argued that it was inappropriate for Trump to “crap on the dignity and legacy of people like these code talkers ... and then send the press secretary out to answer questions in a way that isn’t saying, ‘Wow the president regrets what he said today; he made a mistake.’”

The strategist continued: “Instead, she goes out and she tries to bury people in an avalanche of horses**t everyday, because this is her job.” According to Wilson, this week’s episode was not the first time Sanders had risen to the defense of “somebody ... slinging stuff that is demonstrably racially charged.”

The Washington Post listed some of the instances of Trump questioning Warren’s ethnicity. In June 2016, he called her “goofy Elizabeth Warren, who lied on heritage.” At a campaign rally the same month in Virginia, he told his supporters: “Pocahontas is not happy. She’s not happy. She’s the worst. You know, Pocahontas — I’m doing such a disservice to Pocahontas; it’s so unfair to Pocahontas — but this Elizabeth Warren, I call her goofy Elizabeth Warren, she’s one of the worst senators in the entire United States Senate.”

Republican candidate Scott Brown also disputed Warren’s Cherokee heritage when he ran against her in the 2012 Senate election in Massachusetts. His campaign ran television advertisements attacking the Democrat, and he brought up the issue during a debate. Warren has explained that she bases her claim on stories her family members have passed down over the years. “Being Native American has been a part of my story, I guess since the day I was born,” she said.

The New England Historic Genealogical Society retracted its earlier announcement that documents indicate Warren is one-32nd Native American. According to the Boston Globe, the group initially cited a family newsletter which reported that her great-great-great grandmother was Cherokee. However, neither the newspaper nor the genealogical society was able to confirm the claim.
