GOP Lawmaker From New York: ‘I Hate Ted Cruz’

As New Yorkers headed to the polls on Tuesday to vote in the Republican primary, one of the state’s GOP congressmen bashed White House hopeful Ted Cruz.

Rep. Pete King declared on “Morning Joe” on MSNBC: “I’m not endorsing Ted Cruz. I hate Ted Cruz, and I think I’ll take cyanide if he ever got the nomination.” According to The Hill, the congressman vowed in another recent interview that he would never vote for the Texas senator. He said any New Yorker who supports Cruz “should have their head examined."

King told the MSNBC show’s hosts: “I have not endorsed Donald Trump. In fact, I actually voted by absentee ballot for John Kasich. I’m not endorsing John, but I voted for him to really send a message.”

The news network’s Chuck Todd challenged his guest by asking: “What is the fear, what is your fear? Why won’t you endorse John Kasich?” King responded: “It’s not a fear. … If I thought that John Kasich had a viable chance, I’d come out and endorse him.” The lawmaker said that while Trump will probably become the Republican nominee, Kasich “would be a good choice for vice president.”

Trump won the primary in the Empire State by a wide margin, with Kasich placing second. Cruz failed to earn any delegates to the GOP national convention.
