GoFundMe For Woman That Flipped Off Trump Raises More Than $80k

In bizarro world, flipping off an elected official would be the equivalent of a heroic act. In that same world, such an act would lead to a tremendous financial award from supporters of your noble deed. Unfortunately, bizarro world and the one we live in are now one and the same. As Fox News Insider shares, the woman that gained viral fame for flipping off the commander-in-chief has received an outpouring of support after she lost her job due to her classless actions.

Juli Briskman, a 50-year-old Virginia resident, became a viral sensation after photos of her extending her middle finger at President Donald Trump’s motorcade went viral. She was out cycling when it passed by her, and she somehow determined that the best course of action was to make a crass gesture in response. Briskman would eventually come forward as the woman in the photo, and she would even tout her contribution to society on social media.

Alas, her employer didn’t share her enthusiasm, and she was let go for violating the company’s social media policy. The company deals with government contracts, so it would be pretty tough for them to continue being taken seriously without taking some sort of action against Briskman. In any event, she was wished well in future endeavors.

Not too long after, the narrative changed to how awful it was that she had lost her job. Absent in those lamentations of awfulness was the fact that she lost her job as the result of her own actions, but that apparently didn’t fit in all that well with the story. Regardless, a GoFundMe page was started in her honor, and it’s raised more than $80,000 thus far.

Briskman has chimed in with some thoughts on the page, which dubs her "an inspiration to us all."

“After I was terminated from my job on October 31, I was driving home and as you can imagine, my thoughts were racing. I never imagined that my 'one-finger salute' to the Presidential motorcade and its occupant would cost me my job. The actions of my company were swift and unexpected,” she wrote. “I was shocked and worried about many things: How and when to tell my children? (my daughter's birthday was days away and of course I wanted her to have a happy one).”

Briskman pontificated about her other concerns as well, but the first one is certainly a doozy. If she was so shocked and worried, why on earth would she behave in such a way? How would she feel if her kids got sent home from school for flipping off a teacher they didn’t like? There’s a whole lot more we can add to that list, but as Briskman indicates, she’s not all that worried anymore.

“Through your very generous donations, many of those heavy burdens have been lifted. I am not sure what the future holds, but I am buoyed by your support,” she continued. “For now, I can just say THANK YOU and promise to be a good steward of these funds.”

Many moons ago, respect, dignity, and class meant something. Nowadays? We can apparently chalk that up as collateral damage to the toxic political environment, and it’s being celebrated to boot.
