Giuliani Says Trump Would Be Good For Race Relations

Though Donald Trump’s critics accuse him of bigotry because of his inflammatory statements about Latinos and other groups, Rudy Giuliani insisted Monday that the Republican presidential candidate could bridge the country’s racial divide.

According to Newsmax, the former New York City mayor told CNN’s Jake Tapper that there should be “one America, not a black America or a white America.” When the network host asked whether Trump “is the best to do that,” Giuliani replied: “I think Mr. Trump is the best person to do that. This is a man without prejudice. This man sees black and white as the same, as I do.”

The ex-mayor argued that the Democratic Party fails to help the black citizens whom it claims to represent. “What have the Democrats done for the African-Americans in Baltimore; in this city, Cleveland?” he asked. “What have they done for them in Detroit?”

Giuliani said that although some law-enforcement personnel are guilty of profiling and abusing African-Americans, “there is no excuse, none, for assassinating police officers and putting targets on their backs.” He continued: “We are seeing a repeat of the Black Panther movement, where police officers are lured to come and help black people and then are assassinated.”

The comment was a reference to Sunday morning’s slaying of three officers in Baton Rouge, La. when they responded to a report of a man with a gun. Three other cops sustained injuries in the attack.
