Gingrich Compares Trump's House Cleaning Of Obama Staffers With This Great President's Actions

President Donald Trump has riled up the media and the left once again when he fired a large number of federal employees in high-ranking positions or forced them to resign. The employees were all put in place by former President Barack Obama, and those let go were considered to not be in line with Mr. Trump's agenda. While the firings caused an uproar, former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich says it's standard house cleaning that happens whenever a new president takes office.

Just last week, president trump ordered 46 Justice Department prosecutors to be dismissed. Media attention fell on the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, Preet Bharara. Bharara spoke at a Trump Tower press conference earlier this year and said he agreed to stay on at the request of the president, but the president apparently changed his mind.

News came out that Bharara resigned, but he quickly tweeted to clear up the confusion. "I did not resign. Moments ago I was fired. Being the US Attorney in SDNY will forever be the greatest honor of my professional life," he explained.

"The president reached out to Preet Bharara on Thursday to thank him for his service and to wish him good luck," said a White House spokesperson.

According to reports, Bharara wouldn't answer the president's calls.

Gingrich explains that it should not come as a shock because it's standard procedure. The former Speaker appeared on Fox & Friends on Sunday and explained, "Lincoln, when he came in, fired 70 percent of the senior bureaucrats in the federal government because he had to get rid of southern sympathizers and he had to have people in place who were willing to fight a Civil War."

"Trump's gonna have a similar process. He's not going to have any choice," Gingrich added.

Former President Barack Obama did the same thing when he took office, as did George W. Bush and Bill Clinton.
