George W. Bush Touts Jeb’s White House Qualifications

George W. Bush told South Carolina Republicans on Monday that his brother Jeb has the “good judgment” to “fix the problems” the nation faces, according to The Hill.

In an apparent reference to GOP front-runner Donald Trump, the former president declared at a campaign rally in North Charleston: “There seems to be a lot of name-calling going on. … I understand that Americans are angry and frustrated. We do not need someone in the Oval Office who mirrors our anger and frustration. We need someone who can fix the problems and solve our frustration, and that’s Jeb Bush.”

The ex-president continued: “Strength is not empty rhetoric, it is not bluster, it is not theatrics. From my experience, the loudest person in the room is not usually the strongest.”

He stressed that “the presidency is a serious job that requires sound judgment and good ideas,” adding: “Jeb will listen to the voices of the disenfranchised. He will rise above the petty name-calling. Once elected, he won’t need a poll or focus group to tell him what to do.”

The Hill pointed out that earlier on Monday, Trump ridiculed Jeb Bush for needing his famous brother’s help to get votes. The real-estate mogul slammed the former president for invading Iraq in 2003, and accused him of lying about Saddam Hussein having “weapons of mass destruction.”
