Former Cruz Aide: Trump's Presidency Is Over

It can be tough to stand out from the pack when you’re a cable news talking head, and that’s partially why each day is littered with hyperbolic claims and outrageous opinions. The thinking behind that is that bombasting will equate to ratings gold. Reality tells us otherwise. Those that constantly light their hair on fire to draw attention to themselves run the risk of destroying any credibility they may have, but that doesn’t stop them from stepping up to the plate to keep swinging away.

As The Hill shares, we have another example of that, and this one comes courtesy of Rick Tyler. Who’s that? Tyler was a former communications director for the presidential campaign of Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), but he was canned when he was discovered to have circulated rumors about Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) during the primary. That black mark wasn’t enough to stop MSNBC from offering him a gig, and Tyler now drops his version of wisdom on the world as a network contributor.

Tyler stopped by to hang out with the gang on ‘Morning Joe’ on Friday, and he decided it was time to kick things up a notch. With the spotlight shining brightly as he stepped up to the plate, Tyler called his shot.

"I think this presidency is effectively over," he said.

Paging President Donald Trump - it’s over. Tyler said so. Just go ahead and resign already. That whole MAGA thing? A mere pipe dream. Especially when you consider all of the facts that Tyler came equipped with.

"And if you look back to different presidencies, you look at Bill Clinton, he had a rough first two years, very difficult two years,” Tyler added. “But after Oklahoma City he was able to regain his footing and become presidential until he slipped on a blue dress."

So that means there’s some hope for Trump? Nah, Tyler’s not seeing how that’s even remotely possible.

"But this president cannot change. Nothing about his behavior tells me, since the beginning of this process, that he was going to change,” Tyler continued. “And if you cannot change and you cannot become presidential, and you cannot convince the majority of the American people to enact some legislative agenda that he wants passed, his presidency legislatively is effectively over.”

Alright. Panelist Donny Deustch quickly chimed in to steal some of the spotlight.

“The healthcare debacle shows something also about his incompetence in that he never understood the job of the presidency," Deustch added. "He never understood the job of pushing legislation through."

I see. So the president stands at the ready with pen in hand to sign the fruits of Congressional labor, but Republican leadership in the Senate and House have been unable to push the ball over the goal line. This is Trump’s fault?

On the Morning Joe planet, the answer is yes. For those not wearing anti-Trump glasses, the answer is a resounding no. There are plenty of valid things to criticize the Trump administration over, but this isn’t one of them.
