Florida Congressional Candidate’s Resume Includes Alien Abduction

In the wake of President Donald Trump’s election, all bets are off when it comes to politics. There have been whispers about other famous faces throwing their hats into the proverbial ring in the future, and candidates with differing viewpoints have become emboldened as well. We’re not just talking about runs for presidents either, as state and local elections could look quite different in the near future. That’s especially true in the state of Florida, as a contender for the state’s House of Representatives has an unusual item on her resume, to say the least.

As the Daily Mail shares, Bettina Rodriguez Aguilera, 59, has her sights set on becoming one of the state’s next Republican representatives. She brings to the table an interesting backstory, including claims that she was kidnapped by aliens when she was a child. Yes, really. Back in 2009, she explained what happened during an interview with a local TV station.

“Among the mysteries revealed by the aliens were the true nature of God, the location of Earth's 'energy center', and the ancient history behind a Miami-Dade tourist attraction," the Miami Herald reported. Rodriguez Aguilera, whose previous political career includes work as the economic developer and Vice Mayor for the City of Doral from 2012-14, said the aliens were 'big-bodied and blond,’ the Mail reports. “They reminded her of the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro, she said, and 'took her up' to their ship.”

“I went in. There were some round seats that were there, and some quartz rocks that controlled the ship - not like airplanes,” she explained.

It sounds like the aliens were chock full of knowledge, and the lessons she learned have stuck with her.

“Once there, they imparted curious facts to her, such as the existence of 30,000 skulls in a cave in the Mediterranean - skulls that were 'different from humans,’ she said. They also told her that the Earth's energy center is in Africa, and that 'God is a universal energy' - though it's not clear what the latter is supposed to mean,” the Mail adds. “The aliens also told her that a Miami-Dade tourist attraction called 'The Coral Castle' is actually an ancient pyramid.”

The Miami Herald attempted to gain some more insight into her experiences with extraterrestrials, but those efforts proved to be in vain. However, Rodriguez Aguilera did offer up a statement.

“For years people, including Presidents like Ronald Reagan and Jimmy Carter and astronauts have publicly claimed to have seen unidentified flying objects and scientists like Stephen Hawking and institutions like the Vatican have stated that there are billions of galaxies in the universe and we are probably not alone,” the statement read in part. “I personally am a Christian and have a strong belief in God, I join the majority of Americans who believe that there must be intelligent life in the billions of planets and galaxies in the universe.”

It’s unclear if the state of Florida is ready to elect a candidate that claims to have been abducted by aliens in the past, but we’ll note that all bets are off in the current political climate.
