FedEx Worker Gets An Unexpected Surprise For Spending His Spare Days Campaigning For Trump

A single dad in Illinois believed in Donald Trump, and worked tirelessly in his local campaign headquarters to help the businessman get elected. The dad had an opportunity to meet with Trump just after the election and must have made quite an impression on him. Trump sent a personal check to the man for $10,000.

Shane Bouvet of Stonington is a single father who worked nights delivering packages for Federal Express, and spent his days volunteering in Trump's local campaign headquarters. He was delighted when Trump won the election, and over the moon when he got a personal invitation to meet with the president elect on the eve of the inauguration.

"I'm just a middle-class, blue-collar guy and I'm getting to experience some history," Bouvet said.

Trump kindly thanked Bouvet for his hard work. When President Trump found out Bouvet's father, also named ‘Donald,' was in the hospital with bladder cancer, the president called the man to cheer him up.

"Hey Don, I like your name," joked the president.

President Trump was very impressed with the hard-working American man and wanted to help the family.

"He ended up giving $10,000 to me and my family for medical bills," Bouvet said in an interview with ABC News. "He changed my life forever. I can't even describe the words, how I felt at that time. I gave him a bear hug."

The check arrived in the mail a week later, as promised. Bouvet is still in shock, but the money is literally a life saver for his family. They plan to spend the bulk of it on chemotherapy for Bouvet's father.

A note from the president accompanied the check, which no doubt Mr. Bouvet will treasure for the rest of his life. "Shane - You are a great guy - thanks for all your help."

Considering the source, that is quite a compliment.
