Ex-Trump Aide Makes Startling Admission About Russia Investigation

Protecting oneself is not a cheap thing. That’s true whether we’re talking about insurance or security, but it’s especially true when it comes to legal protection. Those that find themselves in a situation that requires the assistance of an attorney generally have their eyes opened pretty wide when it comes to discussing fees. Lawyers cost a whole bunch, but it can be money well spent when you consider the alternative of leaving yourself unprotected.

As Newsweek shares, a former communications adviser for President Donald Trump’s presidential campaign has placed that into perspective during a recent interview. Michael Caputo sat down with ABC News recently, and the topic turned to the never-ending Russia probe. The probe has led to Caputo having to deliver testimony to House lawmakers, and he’s scheduled to do the same for the Senate in the future.

Walking into that hornet’s nest blind would be downright insane, so Caputo was sure to lawyer up to make sure he has all of his ducks in a row. While the presidential campaign is covering those fees for some folks pulled into the probe, lower profile aides such as Caputo are on the hook all by their lonesome.

“Michael Caputo, who worked as a communications adviser for the campaign, said in an interview with ABC that he has testified to House lawmakers and will do so again in the Senate - with his legal fees coming at what he described as a high cost to his family,” Newsweek reports. “However, Trump’s presidential campaign is covering the legal fees of some people being looked into as part of the Russia probe. The campaign has spent almost $1 million on legal fees this year, including $50,000 on the firm representing Trump's son Donald Trump Jr.”

During his interview, Caputo dropped a memorable line about the effect the fees are having on him and his family - as well as the disparity of having others' fees covered by the campaign.

“Lucky for them. And unlucky for me. And unlucky for my children, who are now going to community college,” he quipped.

That’s unfortunate for Caputo and anyone else that has been drawn into a probe that has produced absolutely nothing of substance. While the mainstream media and Democratic leadership continues to light itself on fire to draw attention to the never-ending chants of ‘Russia, Russia, Russia,’ taxpayers are on the hook for the massive waste of time that the probe has turned out to be thus far. For private sector folks such as Caputo, the costs are even more personal.

Many folks have been drawn into the probe thus far, including the president’s own children. The commander-in-chief took to social media to share some thoughts on that.

“Jared Kushner did very well yesterday in proving he did not collude with the Russians. Witch hunt. Next up, 11 year old Barron Trump!” he wrote.

Sadly, the president’s prediction wouldn’t be all that surprising if it came to be true. It would be downright frightening to learn what the true cost in terms of dollars to the American taxpayers has been thus far in relation to this probe.
