Dying Former Wisconsin Beauty Queen Leaves Donald Trump Speechless
At a Donald Trump rally in Janesville, Wisconsin, Melissa Consin Young, former Miss Wisconsin 2005, struggled to speak after a volunteer told Trump that "Melissa wants to say something to you."
The terminally ill mother is dying and suffering from an incurable autoimmune disease. The mother of one says one of her last wishes was to thank the GOP front-runner for what he did for her.
Through tears, Melissa told him, “You’ve saved me in so many ways. In recent years I’ve been struggling with an incurable illness and I’m on home care now and it was caused by a doctor’s medical negligence. In those dark days fighting — right now all the tubes have been removed and I have a ‘do not resuscitate’ order and I have a seven year old son — those days in the hospital, I received from you a handwritten letter that says ‘to the bravest woman I know’."
Melissa went on to say, “I’m here now to thank you in person and that was my biggest dream. I wanted to thank you because through you and your organizations, my son, a Mexican-American, through your organizations and just being able to stand on that stage with you in 2005, and the outpouring of love, ultimately provided my son with a full-ride to college." Trump tried to put on a tough front, but he was speechless.
Young’s help came from a fund Trump set up called FundAnything.com, and her Facebook post explains her long struggle. The former beauty queen became ill during her pregnancy, and she begged her doctor to pay attention to her symptoms. He didn’t listen, and three weeks before her due date, she quickly grew worse and almost died. Later, she was diagnosed with the rare autoimmune disease, which leaves her organs damaged, and her heart is the heart of a 88-year-old.
