During Tribute To Fallen SEAL's Wife, People Disgusted By What These Democrats Did

During a touching moment during President Donald Trump's first address to a joint session of Congress, he introduced the widow of a fallen Navy SEAL. Most of the room stood up for an extended ovation and applauded, but a large group of disgruntled politicians sat stoically, refusing to budge. Guess what party they belong to?

It was no surprise when Democrats in Congress refused to applaud for President Trump when he laid out his agenda, or extended an olive branch on Tuesday night. After all, the election was long and heated, and the Washington outsider's win came as a total shock to them. There's been much animosity coming from the Democratic party since Trump took office, effectively unraveling all the agendas they'd worked on with former President Barack Obama over the last eight years.

If there was one moment you would think all Americans could drop their partisan politics and come together, it would be to honor a fallen U.S. Navy SEAL. Senior Chief William Ryan Owens died on a mission in Yemen in January that was meant to gather important intelligence information on terrorist cells. His widow appeared, and Trump introduced her.

“We are blessed to be joined tonight by Carryn Owens, the widow of a U.S. Navy special operator, Senior Chief William “Ryan” Owens. Ryan died as he lived: a warrior, and a hero — battling against terrorism and securing our nation,” said the POTUS. “Ryan’s legacy is etched into eternity.”

All Republicans, many Democrats and others in attendance rose to their feet for a standing ovation that lasted several minutes. Mrs. Owens looked up at the ceiling, clapping, trying to hold back the tears.

A number of Democrats just couldn't bring themselves to join in the moving moment. Specifically, cameras panning the room caught Democrat Reps. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.), Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), and Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) remaining in their seats looking dour and annoyed.

Benny Johnson of the Independent Journal Review began tweeting at critics of the Democrats, stating that the politicians did indeed applaud during Mrs. Owens' introduction, but not during the ovation in which her husband was honored.
