Dreamer To Democrats: Stop Posturing Over DACA And Make A Deal With Trump

At least one dreamer says that he's confused on the Democrat's position on immigration. He believes that Democratic politicians like Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer are using 'dreamers' as pawns in their political games.

He believes Trump has offered a great deal, and is urging Democrats to take it.

Monday morning, Hilario 'Eli' Yanez appeared to share his story, and his perspective, on the DACA deal. Yanez was brought to the U.S. when he was an infant and is hoping to become a U.S. citizen, if the Democrats stop 'politicizing' the issue and take Trump's generous deal.

According to Yanez, Trump has shown 'compassion and courage' when it comes to immigration, and he’s taking heat from both sides of the political aisle for his efforts to resolve the country’s immigration problems. Between Republicans and Democrats, Trump has taken the lead in trying to bridge the gap with a fair compromise.

Under Trump's deal, not only would 800,000 dreamers be given a path to citizenship, but one million more individuals who would qualify but currently have not signed up for the program.

In exchange, President Trump wants funds to build a wall, he wants to do away with the immigration lottery and base citizenship on merit, and wants to limit chain immigration to only spouses and children.

Democrats have slammed the president's proposal. Pelosi, the House Minority leader from California, claims that he's trying to 'make America white again'.

"Helping the Dreamers become Americans and protecting our borders. That should be the focus of all our energies," argues Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY), who claims he's frustrated over the president's attempt to use the DACA deal, with a looming March 5 deadline, to push his entire immigration overhaul agenda.

According to Yanez, the Democrats should take the deal. "At the end of the day, they’ve been using [Dreamers] as pawns," he tells Fox News.

He argues that by tighter immigration control, it protects dreamers, it protects legal immigrants and citizens (including border patrol agents), and it protects those who would think twice before taking the dangerous trip to come to the U.S. illegally.

The dreamer is urging other dreamers to support President Trump on the deal. He's proud to say he's gotten a lot of positive feedback and has changed some minds.

Yanez also complains that the Democrats should not have held the country 'hostage' with a government shutdown in their immigration fight.

Trump has been arguing the same thing. On Twitter last week, the President lashed out at Democratic leaders:

"Republicans want to fix DACA far more than the Democrats do. The Dems had all three branches of government back in 2008-2011, and they decided not to do anything about DACA. They only want to use it as a campaign issue. Vote Republican!"

"Look, Trump one. That's the reality. I think it's time to move on," Yanez says in a message to Democrats. "I think the reason he won was he had a great message, he had great principles, whether you agree or disagree."

He notes that Democrats failed to act when they had the opportunity, and that now they should be willing to compromise with Trump.
