Don’t Expect Chris Christie to Change His Brash Style

Chris Christie promised last week that if he is elected president he will not abandon his in-your-face approach to politics.

"I am the same person I've always been and I won't change," the New Jersey governor said on Fox News Channel's “Hannity.” Newsmax noted that he formally declared his candidacy for the Republican presidential nomination earlier in the day.

Christie told host Sean Hannity that he has changed as he has aged, but still holds the same beliefs he has always espoused. "I think the country needs that. We need someone who is going to look them in the eye and tell them the truth even if they don't want to hear it,” he said.

Christie’s campaign is dogged by several controversies, including the “Bridgegate” scandal, that have happened during his tenure as governor. He criticized the “relentless pounding from the media about something I didn’t have anything to do with and wasn’t responsible for.”

"It shows you the power of the liberal media," the candidate said. "You know the folks at MSNBC, The New York Times, thought they had me. They can't live with the fact I'm innocent, that I didn't do anything wrong."

Christie told Hannity that he “wasn’t ready to be president of the United States” in 2012, but is prepared this time around.
