Lead Singer Of Dixie Chicks Blasts POTUS As 'Mentally Ill'

Since our country came into existence, every President of the United States has had his fair share of supporters and detractors. There have been a number of heated presidential elections during that time frame, and there have been plenty of times when the losing side wasn’t all that pleased with the results.

In the past, most folks would quickly move on with their lives and make the best of things, but that didn’t mean they suddenly were magically just fine with the results. They weren’t, but they recognized there was no need to continue to stir the pot.

The current environment is rather different from that. The 2016 presidential election was one for the record books in terms of divisiveness, and it often feels like those feelings are never going to subside.

There are some detractors of President Donald Trump that simply can’t come to terms with the results. Rather than remaining silent about their angst, many choose to vocalize it as much as humanly possible.

As such, the commander-in-chief is subjected to an astonishing amount of vitriol that one would generally never see said about a sitting president unless one was looking really hard for it.

You don’t have to look all that hard for it these days, as Trump-bashing has become a sport for some folks. Many celebs pride themselves on bashing the president whenever possible, and they seem to pay little mind to the fact that some of their fans may see things differently than they do.

Our latest entrant into that category is Natalie Maines, the lead singer of the Dixie Chicks.

As the Daily Caller shares, Maines recently shared a picture of Trump holding hands with world leaders, and she was sure to turn up the snark in the caption.

“Listen, I think it’s unbelievable how people are badmouthing the President! It’s unacceptable! This is our President," she began.

"How dare you make fun of the mentally ill and elderly? Not to mention, he’s the President of our United States Of America!"

A popular talking point amongst Trump detractors has been the belief that the president is suffering from some kind of mental illness. Maines has touched on that point - and many others - as she has littered social media with her opinions.

“Your ignorance is superseded by your mental illness. #5150,” read one post.

“Do you ever feel like you can't escape the person that brings out the worst in you? @realDonaldTrump you're mine and I hate you for it,” she wrote in another post.

“Just so you know...I'm ashamed the President elect is the President elect every single second of every single day,” Maines wrote in yet another post.

In fairness to her current stance, this isn’t the first time that the Dixie Chicks as a whole have expressed their angst with the man that occupies the Oval Office. Back in 2003, the group made headlines for noting that it was ‘ashamed’ of former President George W. Bush and the involvement of the United States in the Iraq War.

Maines is certainly entitled to her opinions, but it’s unclear exactly what purpose they serve outside of her getting things off of her chest. She has even acknowledged in her posts that the current environment is bringing the worst out in her, and we sincerely hope that she’ll eventually take that as a clear sign that she needs to take a time out from the world of politics.
