Disgraced Former Army Private Chelsea Manning Is Running For Senate

What a long, strange trip it’s been for Chelsea Manning. The former Bradley Manning has been in and out of the headlines for a number of years, and it all started with her decision to steal and leak thousands of classified documents.

She would go on to learn that was an incredibly poor choice, but her fortunes changed when former President Barack Obama took a closer look at things on his way out the door. Fast forward to today, and Manning is back in the spotlight due to her political ambitions.

As the Daily Caller shares, Manning is running for a Senate seat in the state of Maryland.

The transgender woman is throwing her hat into the Democratic primary, and she’s released a campaign video that includes a number of scenes of unrest amongst the American people. As those clips fly across the screen, Manning narrates and offers up her perspective on things.

“We live in trying times. Times of fear, of suppression, of hate," she begins.

"We don’t need more, or better leaders. We need someone willing to fight."

Manning says. “We need to stop asking them to give us our rights. They won’t support us, they won’t compromise."

"We need to stop expecting that our systems will somehow fix themselves.”

Included amongst the clips are images of the Charlottesville riots, the Women’s march, and ominous looking photos of a number of government buildings. There’s a recurring theme of Antifa-style resistance in the video, and a number of scenes depict police in riot gear clashing with unruly protesters.

In addition, there’s an image of President Donald Trump in the Oval Office with Democratic leaders, with the clear implication being that the leading Dems just aren’t doing enough to stop the commander-in-chief.

“We need to actually take the reigns of power from them; we need to challenge them at every level; we need to fix this,” Manning adds in the video.

“We don’t need them anymore – we can do better. You’re damn right we got this.”

At the end of the video, a smiling Manning is pictured holding a rose. Exactly what that rose is meant to represent is unclear, as is why she feels she may be the one to be able to fix the things that are broken in the nation’s capital.

Quite simply, Manning was convicted of stealing and leaking almost 750,000 documents to Wikileaks. That is not a misprint - she is directly responsible for leaking nearly three-quarters of a million classified documents to a website.

Whether that was done for what she views as altruistic reasons is irrelevant. She has proven herself to be a thief that can’t be trusted around sensitive information.

Exactly why would anyone feel that she deserves the privilege of representing constituents from the great state of Maryland?

Manning was sentenced to 35 years behind bars for her criminal actions, but her sentence was commuted by Obama prior to his leaving office. She was subsequently released from prison in May 2017, and seems to have become some sort of activist since gaining her freedom.

We wish Manning well with her newfound freedom, but her past transgressions do not point to her being trustworthy enough to place in any kind of a powerful position.

The swamp certainly needs a ton of draining, but that needs to be done by those that haven’t been convicted for violating the Espionage Act.
