Democrats’ Online Ad Ridicules Bush Brothers

Democrats are trying to smear former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush by linking him to ex-president George W. Bush.

Business Insider reported that national party operatives are criticizing the two brothers in an online advertisement. The video, titled “Brotherly Love,” shows Jeb Bush lauding the accomplishments of the former president. He says: “I’m proud of President Bush for standing for what’s right as it relates to tax policy. We should make the tax cuts permanent.”

The Democratic National Committee placed the ad in response to George W. Bush’s appearance at a fundraiser for his younger sibling, who is likely to soon announce his candidacy for the Republican presidential nomination. The event took place Wednesday in Dallas, Texas.

DNC spokeswoman Holly Shulman told Business Insider that voters need to understand the brothers have similar views not only concerning taxes, but on other policies as well. The ex-governor of Florida has denied the allegation, stressing that he is his “own man” with opinions “shaped by my own thinking and own experiences.”

Shulman wrote in an email: "His own man? I think not. The Bush economy favors the richest over the middle class, and on that core agenda there is absolutely no daylight between Jeb Bush and his brother."
