Democratic Official Reacts To Steve Scalise’s Shooting - "I'm Glad He Got Shot"

The Nebraska Democratic Party is in the midst of a crisis. Phil Montag, the party’s technical chairman, has been caught red-handed, loudly declaring that he was “glad”, Steve Scalise, a Republican Representative and House Majority Whip, had been shot.

Mr. Scalise was shot at a congressional baseball session in Virginia, and he has only recently been downgraded from critical condition. The shooter, a far-left extremist named James Hodgkinson, was killed during a shootout with Mr. Scalise’s security personnel.

In the video, Mr. Montag can be heard talking about Mr. Scalise, yelling: “This motherf***er, like his whole job is like to get people, convince Republicans to f***ing to kick people off f***ing health care, I hate this motherf***er. I’m f***ing glad he got shot!”

As his anger began to subside, Mr. Montag begins to realize his mistake, muttering that he wouldn’t repeat his hate-filled speech in public before defiantly mumbling: “I wish he was f***ing dead.”

At this moment, the man recording the audio decided to deliver a bombshell, saying: “It’s ok, because I’ve been recording this conversation since you’ve come in, so I will publicly release it myself.”

The voice on the YouTube video has been confirmed as Mr. Montag after the Nebraska Democratic Party Chairwoman, Jane Kleeb, released a statement about the confronting video, condemning Mr. Montag’s statement, saying: “[America] is better than the political rhetoric that is out there from both the far right and the far left.”

The footage has understandably infuriated conservatives, many of whom see the YouTube video as a clear example of left-wing violence. The video has been posted to dozens of online news outlets and several YouTube channels, racking up tens of thousands of views.

Although Mr. Montag’s statements have been condemned by both sides of the House, online commentators continue to launch divisive attacks on social media. One user, known as Huntersmonnx Grim, wrote on YouTube: “Wow.. every Republican should arm themselves against Democrat violence. Every Democrat is a clear and present danger to the stability of the republic and a potential murderer.”

Conservatives are pointing to a slew of similar incidents of left-driven violence. Fox News host Tucker Carlson has theorized that the madness began after President Trump was elected and key Democratic figures encouraged their followers to ‘resist.’

However, many online commentators are refusing to be drawn into vicious and polarized online debates. In a comments sections for the Independent Journal Review, a user named Nick attempted to calm other commenters down, writing: “I don't like what this guy said either, but everyone is being very hypocritical right now. How can you condemn this man's reprehensible behavior of saying someone deserves to die by saying he deserves to die? The best way to condemn this man is by holding him responsible and making sure he does not hold a place in government ever again. He can still serve me my french fries or mop the bathroom.”
