Cruz Slams ‘Radical Islam’ And Obama For Brussels Terrorist Attacks

Ted Cruz, reacting to the bombings in Brussels that killed more than 30 people, blasted the Obama administration’s strategy to defeat ISIS.

The Texas senator declared that “radical Islam is at war with us,” and called on the president “to acknowledge this reality,” The Hill reported. “These terror attacks are not isolated incidents,” he said. “They are just the latest in a string of coordinated attacks by radical Islamic terrorists perpetrated by those who are waging war against all who do not accept their extreme strain of Islam.”

Cruz vowed that “we will name our enemy, radical Islamic terrorism, and we will defeat it” if he wins his White House bid. He faces an uphill struggle for the Republican nomination because Donald Trump has a large lead in national-convention delegates.

Obama, as well as Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton, have said they oppose the term “radical Islam” because such language insults all Muslims. Most Democrats prefer to characterize groups like ISIS as “radical extremists.” The Hill noted that Obama declared last year: “We will never be at war with Islam.”

ISIS has claimed credit for the Brussels attacks, according to The New York Times. One of Cruz’s rivals for the GOP nomination, Ohio Gov. John Kasich, told reporters the bombings “sickened” him.
