Cruz Says Trump Is Depending On ‘Low-Information Voters’

Donald Trump may have known what he was talking about when he exclaimed at a recent campaign rally: “I love the poorly educated!”

The presidential candidate’s top rival for the Republican nomination, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, told “The Brody File” on Wednesday: “Donald does well with voters who have relatively low information, who are not that engaged and who are angry, and they see him as an angry voice. Where we are beating him is when voters get more engaged and they get more informed.”

Cruz expressed empathy with Trump’s supporters, pointing out that he shares their disgust with Congress, The Hill reported. “If you’re angry at the corruption of Washington, you don’t solve it by supporting someone who has been enmeshed in the Washington corruption for 40 years,” he said.

Cruz argued that he could confront the political establishment more effectively than Trump. “He’s what they’re angry at. He is the corruption, and if you want someone to stand up to Washington, the only one who has been doing so in this race is me,” the senator said.

Trump continues to pile up delegates to vote for him at the Republican National Convention this summer. Cruz is in second place, but trails the billionaire businessman by a wide margin. Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and Ohio Gov. John Kasich may soon drop out of the race, according to political pundits.
