Cruz Fears Terrorists Will Pose As Syrian Refugees

U.S. officials must step up their efforts to thoroughly screen Syrian refugees seeking to enter the country, according to Republican presidential contender Ted Cruz.

He declared Tuesday that the Obama administration has failed to develop an adequate vetting process ensuring that no one affiliated with ISIS is admitted, Newsmax reported.

“We should not be allowing anyone to come to this country that we cannot vet to make sure that they are not radical Islamic terrorists,” Cruz told reporters during a press conference in Washington, D.C. He was responding to the terrorist bombings in Brussels that resulted in more than 30 deaths. ISIS has claimed responsibility for the attacks, according to The New York Times.

“ISIS stated its intention to infiltrate those terrorists,” Cruz said. “The time for the president’s political correctness has passed. The first priority of the commander in chief should be keeping America safe.”

The Texas senator, referring to the president’s trip to Cuba this week, added: “Obama is spending his time going to baseball games with the Castros and standing at a press conference with Raul Castro as a prop, while Castro denies there are any political prisoners in Cuba. Then, President Obama goes out of his way to agree with Castro’s attacks on America. I recognize President Obama began his presidency with a worldwide apology tour. The American people deserve a president who doesn’t grovel before a communist dictator who hates America, is attacking our nation.”
