Cruz Digs Heels In On Non-Endorsement Of Trump, Backlash Grows

To say that reaction to Ted Cruz’s non-endorsement of Donald Trump has not gone over well with members of the Republican party would be an understatement. According to the Daily Mail, Cruz is refusing to budge on his stance, even as the backlash continues to grow louder and louder.

The highlight of this week’s Republican National Convention thus far came during a moment in Ted Cruz’s speech last night, when he advised voters to ‘vote with their conscience’ this November, as opposed to urging them to vote for Trump. Backlash was immediate, and Cruz was practically booed off the stage as he attempted to finish his speech.

Among the many who have weighed in on the matter are Republican congressman Peter King, who labeled Cruz an ‘a*****e,’ and Eric Trump, who described the Senator from Texas as ‘classless.’

After a night of reflection, Cruz hasn’t changed his mind. In fact, he’s digging his heels in even further. At a meeting this morning with members of the Texas delegation, he did shed some light on one of the reasons for the non-endorsement.

“I am not in the habit of supporting people who attack my wife and attack my father,” Cruz explained, a reference to the headed Republican primary season from earlier this year.
