Cruz’s Dad Calls Trump ‘Worse Than Hillary Clinton’

Ted Cruz’s father prefers Democrat Hillary Clinton to Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump, Breitbart News reported.

The Cuban immigrant, an evangelical preacher, told the conservative website: “We’ve got to realize, Donald Trump is more of a Democrat than a Republican. ... He has been funding Democrats like Charles Schumer, like Sen. Harry Reid, like Anthony Weiner, like de Blasio and many others. For 40 years, he has been supporting all these ultra-liberal politicians. He would be worse than Hillary Clinton, but he cannot beat Hillary Clinton.”

Rafael Cruz pointed out that polls indicate the New York City businessman would lose to Clinton by a large margin in the general election. The former secretary of state is also more popular than Ted Cruz, according to the surveys. The third Republican candidate, Ohio Gov. John Kasich, is the strongest contender against Clinton.

If the GOP nominates Trump, “that would be the dream ticket for Hillary Clinton, because all the polls show that Donald Trump would lose and would lose by a landslide,” Rafael Cruz said.

“If Donald Trump does not get 1,237 (delegates) — and I don’t believe he will — he will lose at the convention,” the elder Cruz said. “I believe that my son will get the nomination, if not by the second ballot, maybe by the third ballot.” He added: “We don’t need another imperial president like we have today. We need a statesman. We need someone that will take America back to the Constitution, to the rule of law, to limited government.”
