Coulter - Give Us The Wall Or Give Us President Pence

President Donald Trump has set off a new firestorm on social media, but this time it’s his own supporters that are up in arms. Trump has become awfully chummy with Democratic leadership these days, and there are signs that he’s softening his stance in a bid to make some more things happen. While that may be a good thing in the long run, some of his more ardent advocates have been seriously rubbed the wrong way with some of the recent reports that have emerged.

On Wednesday Night, word leaked out from Democratic leaders that Trump was softening up on his stance of doing away with DACA, and that he would even forego building a border wall. Democrats were immediately touting that as a victory. As Huffington Post shares, vocal pro-Trump advocates were none too pleased.

“Weak R's have betrayed voters. @POTUS needs to stay the course and keep his promises or it's over! Pelosi and Schumer can never be trusted,” shared Sean Hannity. “And if @POTUS doesn't keep that promise, and goes for amnesty, it will be the political equivalent or 'read my lips, no new taxes.'"

“If AP is correct, Trump base is blown up, destroyed, irreparable, and disillusioned beyond repair. No promise is credible,” shared Rep. Steve King (R-IA).

Conservative commentator Ann Coulter snarked her way through a series of tweets.

“At this point, who DOESN'T want Trump impeached?” read one.

“If we're not getting a wall, I'd prefer President Pence,” read another.

“Looks like Bannon got it wrong. That shadowy force trying to nullify the 2016 election ... is @realDonaldTrump,” she wrote.

Former Illinois congressman Joe Walsh sounded particularly down in the dumps after the news leaked out.

“No wall. DACA enshrined. Trump didn't make a deal w Chuck and Nancy. Trump got screwed by Chuck and Nancy. Trump just screwed his base,” he wrote.

Alas, Trump quickly chimed in to say that Chuck and Nancy had popped the champagne too soon. He said there’s no wiggle room on the border wall, but he was optimistic they would be able to work something out on DACA. In a perfect world, that will result in a common-sense solution. For example, those that are in the country via the program that have managed to stay on the right side of the law and manage to be productive members of society can do so via an amnesty solution. Those that can’t manage to stay out of trouble or subsist on the public dole can be shown the door. It’s pretty hard to take issue with such a simple solution, but we won’t assume that common sense will rule the day.

In short, ardent Trump supporters are getting nervous that he’s bending too much. As Chris Stirewalt of Fox News explains, Trump can expect to hear it from the anti-immigration side for awhile.

"And when they feel neglected, you can ask Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio, Scott Walker, a litany of Republicans past and present how these folks can bring the pain," he said. "Donald Trump exploited that before. Now he's going to be on the receiving end for a little bit."
