Coulter Blasts Trump For Firing Bannon - Says His 'Tiny Ego' Is Getting In The Way

Ann Coulter, who has been one of President Trump’s most loyal defenders, is joining a growing chorus of Republican voices criticizing him.

“I’m ticked off at the emperor god,” Coulter announced in an interview that The Daily Beast published Friday. According to the Daily Mail, she accused Trump of failing to make good on his campaign promises to crack down on illegal immigration, curb Wall Street abuses and oppose globalism. Reacting to the firing of chief White House strategist Steve Bannon on Friday, Coulter declared: “If Trump wants to prove that he didn’t get the good ideas from Bannon, then it better be pedal-to-the-metal on deportations, the wall, that tax hike on people who make more than $5 million a year, which I understand was Bannon’s idea but perhaps I was wrong.”

The conservative commentator and author continued: “Every time he’s asked about Bannon, the emperor god goes, ‘He didn’t win it for me! He only came in August! I already wrapped up the nomination!’ You don’t have to be a very sensitive person capable of reading body language to understand that Trump is obsessed by that. It’s driven him crazy.” Coulter said that with Bannon in the picture, the president’s “little tiny ego explodes.” She added: “All you have to do with whatever White House staffer the media would like to get fired, just put him on the cover of a magazine and call him ‘President Whatever the Guy’s Last Name Is.’ It’s not good to show the media that you are so easily manipulable. … The media is running the staffing at the White House now.”

Coulter said the president has betrayed his fans by hiring and appointing corporate leaders to key governmental positions. “Goldman Sachs is running the country!” she complained. “The millions of people who haven’t voted for 30 years and came out to vote for Trump, thinking ‘finally, here’s somebody who cares about us’ — Nope!”

Coulter also lashed out at some members of the president’s team, including advisers Kellyanne Conway and Stephen Miller. She dismissed Miller’s relevancy, dismissing him as “just a speechwriter for the White House staff.” Miller is known for pushing Trump’s so-called “Muslim ban,” which federal judges have rejected. Regarding Conway, a former Trump campaign manager, Coulter recalled: “As late as (last) summer, Kellyanne was saying that Trump built his business on the backs of the little guy.” The pundit noted that Conway’s previous employer was another candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz.

Bannon’s departure from the White House left Trump with just a few members of the inner circle he assembled upon taking office in January. Among those remaining are family members. His daughter Ivanka and her husband, Jared Kushner, have advisory roles in the administration. Bannon returned to his old job as the head of Breitbart News, which has been described as an “alt-right” news outlet. The website’s critics say it promotes bigotry and encourages white-nationalist groups. Bannon has suggested he will encourage Trump to pursue a more right-wing agenda.
