Comey: Trump Did Not Win Because Of Russian Cyber Attacks

The head of the FBI, apparently refuting the CIA’s findings, has told Donald Trump that Russian hacking did not influence the outcome of the U.S. presidential election.

According to Newsmax, FBI Director James Comey called the president-elect to inform him that the bureau’s investigators had discovered no evidence of Hillary Clinton losing due to cyber attacks on her campaign manager and the Democratic National Committee.

CIA Director John Brennan said last week the Russian government sought to ensure that Trump became president by turning over the hacked emails to WikiLeaks, without also releasing information stolen from Republican officials’ computers. Comey alleged that “Brennan takes his marching orders from President Obama.”

The FBI chief reportedly informed Trump that while the bureau has been aware of Russian hacking attempts for more than a year, the attacks were likely the work of individual operatives rather than the Russian government. Other investigators believe Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the hacking because he is still angry at Clinton for supposedly interfering with his country’s elections 15 years ago.

Newsmax cited an unidentified source who said: “It’s unclear why Putin would have preferred dealing with Donald Trump, who has promised a major military buildup, over Hillary Clinton, who would have continued Barack Obama’s cautious policies toward the Kremlin.”
